Danielle is a Senior Associate with expertise in corporate and projects transactions specialising in the energy and resources sector. 

In October 2018, Danielle relocated to the New York Projects practice. Prior to that Danielle worked directly for the co-head of Herbert Smith Freehills’ global mining team, in the Brisbane Corporate practice. Danielle advises a range of clients in the mining and oil and gas sectors. Danielle regularly acts for leading global resources companies including BHP Billiton, Santos and South 32.

Danielle’s expertise includes acquisitions and disposal of assets, joint ventures, project development, operations and infrastructure and commodity sales and agency agreements.

Background

Danielle graduated at the top of her class in both Law and Accounting at the Queensland University of Technology, Australia. Danielle is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland. Danielle passed the New York Bar Exam in 2020.

  • advising BHP Billiton on the demerger of South 32
  • undertaking a lead role on Wesfarmers Limited’s disposal of the Queensland Curragh coal mine to the Coronado Coal Group and on the disposal of Wesfarmers Limited's 40% interest in the Bengalla coal mine to New Hope Corporation
  • advising confidential bidders on a number of potential acquisitions of large Australian mining assets, including recent sales processes run by Rio Tinto and Anglo American
  • assisting BHP Billiton in relation to the Samarco incident in Brazil
  • acting for a consortium of coal companies in relation to regulated rail access arrangements and port agreements
